OUR PARTNERS & FRIENDS
The Incorporated Association of Organists
The Worcestershire Organists’ Association is affiliated to the Incorporated Association of Organists – an umbrella institution that supports the work of local associations and holds regional and national events.
The Royal College of Organists
The Royal College of Organists’ (the RCO) is the premiere institution in the UK offering learning and qualifications in organ playing and related studies. It organises many courses around the country and operates its own Academy. Several members of the Worcestershire Organists’ Association hold RCO qualifications, and a number of us study with its teachers and attend its courses.
Worcester Cathedral Music Department
A number of our events are organised in cooperation with the Cathedral Music Department. We are honoured to have all the Cathedral organists as members of our Association.
Birmingham Conservatoire Organ Department
The Organ Department of Birmingham Conservatoire offers graduate and post-graduate courses in organ and related studies. It also offers periodic courses and recitals open to interested members of the public. Several members of WOA have studied with the Department and we regularly support its courses and recitals.
Birmingham Organists’ Association
The Birmingham Organists’ Association, one of our immediate neighbours and a fellow organisation in the Midlands region of the IAO, is a community with a large membership and a flourishing programme of events.
Lichfield & District Organists’ Association
We are very pleased to have established such friendly and cooperative relations with the Lichfield & District Organists’ Association – to the extent that their Chairman was a member of our trip to Paris and shared in its planning. We hope to build on our relation ship during 2018, including a visit to Lichfield by WOA members.
Coventry & Warwickshire Organists’ Association
The Coventry & Warwickshire Organists’ Association is another neighbour organisation and fellow member of the Midlands region of the IAO. Like WOA, the C&W Association aims to facilitate the study of the art of music, with particular emphasis on the organ and its music, history, repertoire and technique.
Herefordshire Organists’ Society
We in WOA enjoy a very friendly and cooperative relationship with The Herefordshire Society (HOS) – an immediate neighbour and fellow member of the Midlands region of the IAO. We have members in common and have organised joint events in the past: we plan to increase that mutual work in the future, with a number of joint workshops.
Diocese of Hereford Organists’ Training Scheme
The aim of DHOTS is ‘Enhancing and improving the skills of church organists in Herefordshire and South Shropshire’. We in WOA enjoy the same friendly and productive relationship with DHOTS as we do with their associate organisation, HOS. Members of WOA habitually attend DHOTS workshops.
